Organic farming is a production method defined and regulated at Community level by EEC Regulation 2092/91, and nationally by DM 220/95
In organic farming you does not use synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, pesticides in general), or Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). At crop protection measures are primarily in advance, selecting species resistant to disease and intervening with cultivation techniques as appropriate, for example: • crop rotation, we avoid cultivating for more consecutive seasons on the same ground the same plant. In this way, on the one hand prevents the parasites to find the environment conducive to their proliferation, and the other is used in a more rational and less intensive nutrients of the soil; • The planting of trees and hedges, which recreate the landscape, give hospitality to natural predators of pests and serve as a physical barrier to possible external pollution; • the association, which is to cultivate various plants simultaneously, an unwelcome pests to the other.
In organic farming you use natural fertilizers such as manure and other organic substances. Then you will incorporate soil plants specially sown, as clover or mustard. If necessary for the defence of crops take action natural plant, animal or mineral: extracts of plants, insects useful to hunt parasites, flour or natural mineral rock to correct structure and chemical characteristics of the land and to defend by cryptogamic crops. If you need to intervene to defend crops from pests and other adversities, the farmer may have recourse only to substances of natural origin and detailed expressly authorized by the Rules Committee (with the policy of so-called "positive list").
At Agriturismo I Due Mondi you can: knowing the organic production methods, learn about animals and plants of the farm as peculiarities of the territory. Sensitization to the environment, the knowledge of the origin of food products, participate directly in the life of campaign through harvest, sowing, driving tractors, and more.
Of course activities vary depending on the season and are tied guidance of production as well as to tourists.
The visit to our farm has among others, the objective to know the origin of food products with the organic production methods, to educate a correct diet, but above all, and we want to stress, create interest in the discovery of environment and of farming.
